New To SCC?

Welcome to Saline Community Church! We're glad you're here. Below are some common questions that people ask about SCC. If you have a question that you don't see below, please get a hold of us.

We meet at the Washetnaw Christian Academy, located at 7200 Moon Rd in Saline.

We meet Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 with a time for coffee and connecting afterwards.

Nursery (newborn through age 2): A nursery is provided each week during the worship service. Our purpose is to serve little ones by providing a safe, loving, fun and comfortable environment and to give them a wonderful first impression of God and His Church. A core team of screened adults cares for the children, and teen apprentices assist.

You'll find a wide range of styles at Saline Community Church, from jeans to dress pants for men and jeans to dresses for women. What you wear is not important. You won't be judged by your style of clothing. Instead, you'll be welcomed because you decided to come!

We have a Worship team made up of the keyboard, drums, guitars and singers. You can expect to sing current contemporary praise and worship songs - as well as some hymns from time to time.

No. The offering we take each Sunday is given by those who consider Saline Community Church their church home.

Our church is a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA). We have over 850 missionaries all over the world that we support together with over 2000 C&MA churches in the U.S.

One of the keys to getting people involved at SCC is a class called Networking. We offer this class at different times throughout the year. It focuses on finding your spiritual gifts, passions for ministry and our personalities. We encourage our people to go through this and then get plugged into a ministry.

Our children's ministry seeks to assist families in teaching their children foundational truths of Scripture so they will receive Jesus Christ as Savior and become faithful in their everyday commitment to God. We also encourage the development of caring and considerate relationships appropriate for God's children, both inside and outside the church.

On Sunday mornings, our Nursery and Preschool kids meet in their classrooms for the duration of the worship service (10:00-11:00). Children in Kindergarten-6th Grades go to KIDS ZONE. The kids can be checked in and dropped off by parents in the gym for an opening time of games and activities, whick is followed by a time of singing and then break into smaller groups to look at God's Word and find ways to apply it to their lives.

It would be great to have you visit. We encourage people to come at least three times to get a good feel for who we are. We believe that you will find SCC to be a place that you can connect and grow in your journey with God and others. We are not a perfect place but a place that people can be real and grow in their realationship with Jesus Christ.

We believe that the church should be the place that you can go to seek out truth and find answers to your questions. We do not motivate by guilt or try to shove the Bible down your throat. We believe that questioning and doubting spiritual beliefs is important and a critical part of our journey with God. We do not expect people to come and believe just like us or else they can't belong, but rather to come and seek out the claims of Christ and engage with a community of faith in our journey for truth.

Saline Community Church (SCC) began meeting in 2001 under Founding Pastor, Dave Gremban and his wife Sue. Informal at first, a group of approximately 30 people would gather in the Grembans’ basement for worship and fellowship. By January of 2002, the group had grown to roughly 50 people, and regular Sunday morning worship services began in a building behind the Dairy Queen on Michigan Avenue. That building, which was rented to SCC was by a local developer for only $1 per month, was eventually torn down to make room for a new road and condominiums. But you can still see its mailbox behind the Dairy Queen building!

God opened the doors for the group to begin meeting at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School in Saline, and the ministry continued to grow. By 2003, just weeks before the roads around the school were to undergo substantial construction, SCC signed a contract to meet at the newly opened Harvest Elementary School, giving us more classroom space for Sunday School and adult ministries.

In early 2004 Pastor Gremban went on to begin another church, at that time Rev. David Lauffer and his wife Merilyn accepted the call to pastor the church. Previously missionaries in Israel for 16 years, the Lauffers brought a wealth of knowledge about Biblical history and the Hebrew language, and a passion for missions. The congregation continued to grow underneath their leadership, and eventually moved to its current site at Washtenaw Christian Academy. In October 2005 the church left behind the title of “church plant” and became fully accredited with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), establishing its first charter members and electing the first Elders and Governing Board.

God was gracious to the people of SCC, and when He called Pastor Lauffer to take a new job overseeing Global Missions at the C&MA headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2007, He brought Pastor Peter and Heidi Rufener to lead the church. Their energy, joy, and enthusiasm for Jesus are contagious. Saline Community Church has continued to flourish and reach the community with Christ’s love under their direction. It is with excitement and a great sense of anticipation that we look ahead to how God is going to use SCC for His glory in the future.
